 Excerpts

Reflection

The story of the volunteers splashed me with a huge douse of the harsh reality. As I lay in the comfort of my own home, millions of children are stuck in the path of either crime or death. As I worry about my future in college, millions of children don’t even have the luxury to dream of even entering elementary school. This truly made me feel how privileged I am to be born in my middle-class family. I can only imagine the hardship of not having control of your future. I admire Efren and his group of volunteers for giving those children a chance to hope for a better life. Knowing their past situations made me reflect on my ungratefulness. I am truly blessed, and I plan not to take my blessings for granted.
